Another E3 has come and gone, and where I've found myself rolling my eyes at companies scrambling around years prior for whatever the next big thing is completely changing their platform year after year, I find myself now relieved, happy, and pretty disgusted.
People were curious how Sylvia would react, and I suppose this is a good response to that. I've tried my best in the past not to let my opinions seep into these characters in regards to E3, but when over 90% of any given poll suggests people are going to get the ps4 over the "Xbone", I think it's safe to assume we're in agreement. I don't think I've ever felt so disregarded by one of these companies as I have with the reveal and follow up of the Xbox one, and mind you we've been though the train wreck that was the PS3 launch and Nintendo's brief affair with the casual market with the Wii.
Sony and Nintendo did great which is to say they went out of their way to have presentations that weren't offensive. The industry has evolved into a wierd state that "your console will do what it's supposed to at an afforable price" and "Megaman is actually in a game" are the headliners, but here we are. As Sony went out of their way to point out that they're not Microsoft to much applause, Nintendo just hid in a corner as if to say that this is not their fight, and you can't really blame them, I suppose. It worked well enough for them for the Wii and DS.
I'm not entirely sure what Microsoft is thinking, but then I'm not sure they know what they're thinking either. I had hoped that the PR nightmare would lead to them backtracking on all their anti consumer policies, but the trainwreck just keeps piling up more cars. Maybe they'll have it sorted out by the time they release their console? Who really knows at this point.
